Tear up that previously stagnant Chris ranking and walk with me through the doors of a new Chris era. Ultimately, as justice demands, Zsasz goes out via crossbow bolt (and about 30 individual stab wounds via Harley Quinn) as the women of Birds of Prey defeat him and his *cough* “BFF” Roman Sionis. This is not an endorsement of Zsasz’s choices it is simply to say that I can think of worse ways to go.) (It seems important to note that Zsasz spends a significant portion of the movie literally peeling faces off, murdering various women, and doing pretty much all of Ewan McGregor’s dirty work. His platinum hair was ultimately paired with a grimy black beard, heavy eyeliner, one metal tooth, and a wardrobe straight out of The Sopranos don’t ask me how it works, but it does. Messina’s Victor Zsasz is one part sniveling grunt, one part psycopathic serial killer, one part queer-coded comic relief. With Bruce Wayne having been dead for a while, Gotham City’s crime families went to war to take advantage of a Batman-free city, giving Zsasz something he’d never expected: a job as killer-on-retainer, courtesy of wannabe crime lord Black Mask in their first ever team-up.I think we can all agree that Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz #BirdsOfPrey /SXJdAWtOmH- Krojacica Sudbine February 6, 2020 When the origin of serial killer Zsasz is revealed in one short story in this anthology title, it turns out he’s Bruce Wayne gone very, very wrong, making him the perfect Bat-foe - and the perfect foil for all the other characters in the Batverse, as well. Has Zsasz ever teamed up with Black Mask in the comics? He’s Black Mask’s most loyal henchman and friend. Birds of Prey gives us a Zsasz who’s more sadistic than outright delusionally detached. ![]() ![]() Yes, that’s actually Chris Messina, from The Mindy Project. He’s just a normal guy, albeit a terrifyingly murderous one. What are Mister Zsasz’s powers or abilities? ![]() ![]() Other creators have touched on him since (Christopher Nolan even gave him a cameo in Batman Begins), but in his main backstory, he’s the disaffected scion of a rich Gotham family who decided that all of humanity is sleepwalking through life, and it’s his job to wake them up. Who created Mister Zsasz?Īlan Grant and Norm Breyfogle created Zsasz for the first arc of Batman: Shadow of the Bat, a story all about Arkham Asylum and it’s most terrifying inmates, and still managed to make Zsasz the scariest in the bunch. It’s just that he only feels alive when he’s slitting people’s throats, arranging them in life-like poses before rigor mortis sets in, and then carving a tally mark into his body with each kill.
